WMUC Record Swap: Winter Edition - Sunday, December 7

WMUC is in the early stages of organizing its semesterly record fair, scheduled this semester for Sunday, December 7, from 10 am to 3 pm. This semester, we're moving it into the Grand Ballroom of UMD's Stamp Student Union - we'll be able to hold more than twice as many tables as we have in the past.

If you are a record dealer, store owner, label owner, distributor, or just a collector who wants to unload some of yr goods and wares, get in contact with Chris Berry and Paul Krolian (chris@wmucradio.com and paul.krolian@wmucradio.com) to reserve some tables!

Filth City Invades The Airwaves of WMUC!

Be sure to bring your earplugs and a first aid to this weeks edition of Third Rail Radio (that even goes for you folks listening at home). This weeks lineup features three bad ass bands from Baltimore. As always, Third Rail Radio is from 6:00pm-9:00pm Sunday evenings.

Vincent Black Shadow (Psychadelic/Punk/Garage)
Triac (Grindcore!!)
Ratsize (Punk/Hardcore)

Wednesdays at 6:00 pm on WMUC2: Student Government Association (SGA) Meetings

"In the spirit of good government, accessibility, and transparency, the SGA has begun to webcast their meetings over the internet through WMUC, the campus radio station."

We couldn't agree more. Listen to the WMUC2 Stream (High/Low) starting at 6:00 PM to hear tonight's SGA meeting live from the Stamp Student Union.

Special thanks to Chris Hegwood and Rob Gewain from the Union A/V Services office for their help in making this happen.

WMUC OPEN HOUSE - Sept 17 and 18 at 7:00 pm

Now that your schedule's shaken out, it's time to GET INVOLVED!

University of Maryland's own student-run freeform FM radio station, WMUC, will be hosting its semesterly Open House this Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm.

Come on down to 3130 South Campus Dining Hall (uh, where?) to find out what REAL COLLEGE RADIO is all about!

We've got opportunities for:

On-Air Talent

Want to get on the air? Of course you do. Now with our new webstream, WMUC2, we have more available airtime than ever... but you've still gotta earn it! We're freeform radio, which means you, the DJ, decide what goes on the air, but you've gotta make it interesting! Come prepared with show ideas - if you had your own weekly gig, what would you do with it? Music, talk, comedy, public affairs, insect noises? (seriously, it's been done) You'll learn about our audition process, how to deal with the burden of radio fame, and what it takes to be a great DJ!

WMUC's Sports department is an entire division of its own within the larger WMUC operation, and offers lots of opportunities for new students to get on the air, whether it's calling games or hosting Sports talk shows. Click over to WMUCSports.com to learn more!

Promotions and Marketing

What? You didn't know know that the University of Maryland has a radio station??? Well, you're not the only one, and we're looking for new and interesting ways to fix that. Help us spread the good word of freeform college radio, and how we're looking to make WMUC a bigger part of student life here in College Park.

Production and Recording

Learn the fine art of recording in our Pro Tools-equipped 24-track studio. Are you a musician who wants to lay down some tracks, or know some and want to help them? The only way you'll learn is by doing it, and you can do just that at WMUC!

We're always (ALWAYS!) looking for tech help at WMUC, so if you've got a technical mind and want to learn about what makes an FM broadcast station tick, you've got a chance to do so right here on campus. As an added bonus, we can guarantee that you'll be instantly popular here!

One student group, many ways to get involved! Come check us out!
